An eruption of one of the largest volcanos of Kamchatka (the Russian Far East) has been going on for the second day on that peninsula. This volcano is Shiveluch the height of which reaches 3,283 metres above sea level. The volcano ejects nearly two-kilometre columns of ashes and gas. But, as the local specialists claim, Shiveluch is not threatening the inhabitants of the nearby town of Klyuchi situated at a distance of 50 kilometres from the erupting volcano. The rescue workers recommend that tourists should not cross the safety radius of 30 kilometres. According to volcanologists, the latest large eruption of Shiveluch was registered 37 years ago.
