Jeb Bush Helps His Brother
According to the official data published in Washington on Wednesday, Republicans maintain control over the US Congress House of Representatives. Although the counting of votes concerning some seats in the lower house isn’t over yet, it’s already clear that Republicans will have over 218 seats in the lower house out of the total number of 435. CNN reports that Republicans have already won 50 of 100 seats in the Senate, while the Democrats have so far won a mere only 46 seats. The counting of votes in elections to Congress and partially in some gubernatorial elections still continues.

On the whole, it is perfectly obvious that each of the rival parties will not win enough seats to dominate Congress. The elections will result in the reelection of the whole House of Representatives (435 congressmen) and one-third of the Senate (34 senators of 100) from different states. As of now, the Republican-Democrat ratio in the Senate is 49 to 49, with two independent senators (one is in an alliance with the Democrats), and the ratio is 223 to 208 in the congress.

The results are running counter to forecasts and refute the tendency in the USA that, when a member of one party holds the presidential post, this party cannot control the Congress.

The night of Republican victories started with the announcement of the election in Florida: Jeb Bush is victorious. Jeb Bush, the brother of the incumbent US president, won the election and will serve another term as governor of Florida. Jeb Bush’s victory in Florida is considered as one of the basic indicators of George W. Bush’s popularity and his chances to win the 2004 presidential election.

The results of the elections give Bush more freedom to take up important issues such as abortion, the right to own weapons, the death penalty, and distribution of power between the federal and state governments. However, this is not the most important thing, as the Republican victory is a carte blanche for Bush’s team (we remember that his opponents often blamed Bush for the ineffectiveness of America’s foreign policy). The Party of War celebrates its triumph.
