Thick smoke caused by the forest fires covered Yakutsk.

For three days due to the smoke airplanes do not take off and land in Yakutsk airport, permanent representative of Yakutsk in the Federal District Georgy Nikonov disclosed to a RIA Novosti correspondent. According to him, poor visibility was the cause for the temporary stall of ships on some parts of the Lena river.

The Department of the Natural Resources of the Far Eastern district reported that there are 53 active fires in Yakutia at the present moment. There were more than 120 fires in June and July. The fire spreads due to the continuing draughts, winds, dry storms and human neglect.
