The fishing trawler Alanet with 24 fishermen on board gave a distress signal. The ship stays in the responsibility of Japan, and Japanese rescuers rushed to help the Russian fishermen.

The main engine of the trawler failed in the area of South Kuril Islands in the Sea of Japan. The Russian vessel belongs to a fishing company from Kamchatka. The ship is located 25 nautical miles from Cape Erimo, Hokkaido. The rescue operation could be quite complicated because of weather conditions: there are  three-meter waves raging in the area.

Most likely, the ship will be delivered to one of the ports of the island of Hokkaido.
