Northern Fleet Aircraft Will Take Bodies Of Identified Submariners To Their Birth Places

Northern Fleet Commander Vyacheslav Popov has told journalists that on Saturday two specially assigned Northern Fleet aircraft will bring the bodies of 7 identified Kursk crewmen to their relations. According to him, extraction of the bodies from the Kursk sub and subsequent identification may last more than a month. That is why he considered it unforgivable to keep the bodies of the identified seamen in Severomorsk. The Commander said at night he got in touch with the relatives of the identified seamen agreeing on the way of transporting the bodies. In accordance with the Navy Charter, every dead submariner will go on his last journey accompanied by the guard of honour, with the national anthem playing and the state flag flying.
