Unconfirmed reports say man killed in Kiev protests

Activists of Maidan protests in Kiev said that they had found a tent with provocateurs at the entrance to the city. In addition, according to unconfirmed reports, one of their supporters was killed after falling from a 13-meter high colonnade.

The name of the killed person has not been exposed. It was said that the man fell from the colonnade of Dynamo stadium, from which protesters were throwing stones and firebombs at law enforcement officers.

Activists found the provocateurs in a tent at the entrance to Kiev. According to the opposition, there were at least 100 people. According to local residents, the provocateurs were threatening them and harmed their property.

On Tuesday evening, the Interior Ministry of Ukraine has allowed the fighters of Berkut special unit to use firearms against aggressive protesters. Reportedly, on Wednesday night, Berkut used water cannons against the aggressors. The temperature was -10 degrees Celsius.

Euro Maidan began in the capital of Ukraine on November 21, 2013, when President Yanukovych refused to sign an agreement on association with the European Union. On January 19th, violent clashes between protesters and riot police began on Grushevsky Street. For the time being, as many as 1,5000 people received injuries of various degrees as a result of the clashes.

There are reports saying that the authorities are preparing a large-scale plan to disperse the demonstrators, details and time of the operation have not been disclosed.

Update: Spokespeople for the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine confirmed that two people were killed during the riots in Kiev.
