NYPD receives 77 calls on suspicious objects in one day

After the terrorist attack in Boston, the Americans have become more cautious about unfamiliar subjects. In particular, the New York City police received 77 calls from people reporting encounters with strange and unusual objects, CBS New York said.

On Tuesday, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said they would not allow the repetition of the Boston scenario in New York.

"We asked people to be especially careful with suspicious objects, especially with boxes and containers, and we expected that after the events in Boston, reports of such findings would increase," said Kelly.

As a result, the police received 77 calls in one day, whereas the norm is 21 calls. There was no information provided to confirm the dangerous nature of the found objects.

On Monday, two explosions occurred during the traditional Boston Marathon. Three people were killed and over 180 injured. It became the first terrorist attack committed in the U.S. since September 11, 2001.
