MiG-31 crashed due to power supply problem, experts say

The crash of MiG-31 interceptor fighter last Saturday in the Far East of Russia most likely occurred due to problems in the power supply system of the aircraft, a source close to the commission investigating the accident told Interfax.

Experts suggest that the crew turned off the engine of the MiG-31 in accordance with the flight plan, resulting in a blackout of the power supply system. As a result, the plane began to swing heavily in the air, and the process intensified after the crew started the engine. 

According to specialists, the blackout of the aircraft occurred due to a malfunction in the gearbox. At the same time, experts consider other versions of the crash. As it became known, the causes of the accident would soon be established.

Earlier it was reported that the crash occurred due to equipment failure. Defense Ministry officials said that the fighter crashed as a result of an engine failure.

The MiG-31 crashed near Vladivostok on December 14, during a flight without ammunition on board. The crew of two people ejected.

The pilots were taken to a military hospital in Vladivostok. Their health is out of danger, the source said.
