On December 10, the Moscow City Court will bring down a sentence on charges of attempted explosion of high-speed train Sapsan, the Russian News Service reports.

State prosecution asked the court to sentence the defendants in the case - Islam Khamzhuev, Fail Nevlyutova, Mansour Umayev and Mansour Edilbiev  - to a prison term of 16 to 19 years.

Prosecutors seek the longest term for Khamzhuev. In turn, the lawyers of the defendants asked to acquit Mansour Umayev and remove some of the charges against other defendants in the case, says Evening Moscow. The lawyers claim that their clients voluntarily renounced the intention to commit the crime.

According to investigators, the defendants planned to explode a Sapsan train in August 2011. They reportedly rented an apartment in Moscow, where they made explosives with the capacity of more than 10.5 kilograms of TNT, said Ridus.ru.

Security forces learned about the imminent attack, arrested the suspects and neutralized their bombs.
