Killer escapes from Moscow's high security prison via psychiatric hospital

A killer, who escaped from Moscow's Matrosskaya Tishina (Sailor's Silence) high security prison, could make his way out of the prison via a hospital building. According to officials, the convict, Oleg Topalov, climbed onto the roof of the prison building through a dormer window, where, with the help of a blanket and ropes, he then climbed over to the territory of the Gilyarovsky psychiatric hospital. It did not take the convict much energy to enlarge the dormer window in the old walls.

Topalov was a contract killer, who worked for mafia boss Ded Hasan.

Matrosskaya Tishina is a detention facility located in northern Moscow, known by the name of the street on which it is located. It has operated as a prison since 1945, famously holding Mikhail Khodorkovsky and some plotters of the 1991 Soviet coup d'état attemp
