Locusts attack Egypt, eye Israel

Israel has expressed concerns over the invasion of locusts in Egypt. Israel is ready to take all steps to avoid a similar fate, the Associated Press reports. 

Israeli Agriculture Minister called an emergency meeting on Monday, during which he urged citizens to inform authorities of the appearance of locusts to prevent the invasion.

Locusts are known for their adverse effects on harvests. Egyptian authorities reported the invasion of nearly 30 million insects, not far from Cairo. The invasion occurred shortly before Passover - a Jewish festival, during which believers remember the biblical tale about Moses taking the Jews out of Egypt, The Bible says that the locust invasion is one of ten penalties that God used to punish the Egyptians.
