Residents of the village of Chechen-Aul in the Grozny district of Chechnya have voluntarily returned the arms stolen from policemen. The 2 machine-guns, 8 sub-machine guns and 2 pistols were stolen from the extra-departmental security regiment on July 29th, as RIA Novosti learned in the republic's law enforcing structures. The arms were returned after negotiations with the village's elders.

Apart from this, the police found a service car, hijacked by rebels, and detained several people on these charges. Among them are Chechen policemen suspected of aiding rebels.

In the west of Chechnya law enforcing structures found a cache built in the ground, 1.5 km away from the administrative border with Ingushetia, another North-Caucasian republic. The cache contained 5 grenade launchers, ammunition of various calibres and materials for making and planting explosive devices.
