In the Luhansk region of Ukraine, near the checkpoint of Izvarino, a crew of the Russian television channel REN TV came under mortar attack of Ukrainian troops.

TV correspondent Denis Kulaga was shell-shocked, LifeNews reports. His life is out of danger, but he has lost the sense of hearing. The condition of the cameraman is being specified.

The Russian journalists came under fire while shooting a report about militia  looking for fire spotters. 

On the morning of July 1, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko decided not to renew the truce with the militia. Soon afterwards, the news of increased combat actions started coming from Donetsk and Luhansk regions. 

On the night of July 1, a special flight delivered the dead body of First Channel cameraman Anatoly Klyan to Moscow. The ceremony to bid farewell to the journalist will take place ay Ostankino TV center on July 2, Wednesday. 

On June 17, two employees of one of Russia's major TV and radio companies - special correspondent Igor Kornelyuk and sound engineer Anton Voloshin - were killed near Luhansk. They came under mortar attack near a militia checkpoint while filming a report on how self-defense fighters were rescuing refugees from the zone of danger.
