Nizhny Novgorod region and Belarus develop industrial cooperation

The Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia and the Republic of Belarus have defined the main areas of cooperation in the field of industry. This was announced during the expert-media tour and seminar titled "Energy for the future of the Unified State."

According to the Nizhny Novgorod Minister for Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship Alexander Makarov, during the first eight months of this year, Belarus was ranked second among 136 countries in terms of commodity circulation with the Nizhny Novgorod region. It is the Nizhny Novgorod region that prepared the project of the first-ever nuclear power plant in Belarus. The NPP is currently being built in the Grodno region with the assistance of Russian experts.

"Nizhny Novgorod region companies actively develop cooperation with Belarusian companies, including in the development of new products," said Alexander Makarov.

The expert-media tour was organized to introduce journalists to leading scientific, industrial and educational institutions that are associated with the implementation of projects in the field of nuclear energy. The event also gives a presentation of the socio-economic development of the region. As many as 23 representatives of Russian and Belarusian media took part in the event.

The cooperation between Belarus and the Nizhny Novgorod region has long-standing traditions. On April 2, 2015, during the meeting between Nizhny Novgorod region Governor Valery Shantsev and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, the head of Belarus noted that the Nizhny Novgorod region became one of the most important partners for the republic. "We very much value your huge experience. I know you since the time of your work in Moscow, and I highly appreciate your work. We very much need your experience," Alexander Lukashenko said.
