The rebirth of the timber industry of the Tyumen region

Large-scale involvement of private Russian and international investment to create new high-tech industries with well-paid jobs and a high tax potential - this is the main goal of the economic policy of the governor and the government of the Tyumen region. This policy was dubbed the second industrialization of the region.

The result of the second industrialization is not only the appearance of new industries in the Tyumen region, such as, for example, electrometallurgy. Many traditional industries in the region experience a revival too. In particular, timber harvesting and processing has been developing rapidly. New timber enterprises open in the Tyumen region every year.

The forest industry develops in the Tyumen region owing to favorable investment climate. Investors receive state support in the form of payment compensations for leasing equipment or interest on bank loans. In addition, regional and municipal authorities actively assist entrepreneurs in obtaining land for the construction of enterprises and addressing issues associated with utility networks.

Austrian businessmen are ready to invest in the timber processing complex of the Tyumen region. Another promising project is the creation of a joint Russian-Kazakh woodworking company that will manufacture wooden construction materials.

"The region has huge forest reserves, but we use only 25 percent of them. The amount of wood processing enterprises that we now have working in the region is clearly not enough. Wood processing is very important for the Tyumen region," Governor Vladimir Yakushev said.

Therefore, one may not doubt that the development of the forest complex will be one of the most important directions of the second industrialization of the region.
