Nizhny Novgorod pays priority attention to industrialists

Moscow is hosting the 6th Russian Business Week. The XX congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists took place within the scope of the event. It was attended by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, President of RSPP, Alexander Shokhin and President of "Support of Russia" public organization, Alexander Brechalov.

The agenda of the meeting was about the issue of stimulating investment activity with the use of public and private partnerships and development institutions, as well as priorities of Russian business and the modernization of vocational education in the country.

The delegation of the Nizhny Novgorod Region was headed by Governor Valery Shantsev.

"The main cause for concerns for industrialists today is the lack of qualified personnel, - said the head of the Nizhny Novgorod region. - I like that, because when I started working as the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, business leaders were complaining of something else. There was no work and no orders."

According to Mr. Shantsev, in the Volga region, there is a regional program, within the scope of which centers and specialized departments are being established at universities. Their main task is to make effective use of the workforce.

As noted in the Nizhny Novgorod region government, there were 11 modern resource centers created to prepare qualified personnel and specialists for high-tech productions of machinery, electronics, metallurgy, road-building, nuclear, agricultural industries, as well as housing and communal services.

Educational institutions use modern 3D-technology and technologically sophisticated simulators, some of which have no analogues in Russia.

The plans for 2013 include the creation of three resource centers: for the petrochemical cluster, companies dealing with information technology and communication systems and vocational training institutions. For these purposes, the regional budget will allocate 22 million rubles.

According to the Ministry for Industry, as of 2012, the Nizhny Novgorod region entered the level of stable development, increasing production by one-third in comparison with the pre-crisis year 2008. The average monthly wages of workers made up 21 200 rubles ($700), which is 13.5 percent higher than in 2011.

In addition, in 2012, the region became the leader among Russian regions on the number of scientific projects, introduced at industrial companies. The Nizhny Novgorod region remains in the top five of Russian regions in terms of innovation.
