The world’s largest airline to appear in USA

Two prominent US-based companies American Airlines and US Airways are going to merge. The details of the move have not been reported yet. However, it was said that the deal is evaluated at more than $10 billion.

The administrations of the two airlines have started merger talks in September 2012. The airlines may have decided to merge because corporation AMR, which owns the American Airlines, has been bankrupt since 2011, and creditors recommended the company should stop its independence and enter into a corporation with another carrier.

Presumably, the head of the merged airline will be Doug Parker, the president of US Airways. The board of directors will be chaired by the head of American Airlines, Tom Horton. The merged airline will retain the name of American Airlines and will surpass the U.S.-based United Airlines in terms of traffic, which is considered the largest to date.
