Nizhny Novgorod region conquers Korea

The Ninth International Invention Fair finished in Korea. A delegation of the Nizhny Novgorod region took part in the event.

This year's fair presented energy-saving technology, engineering, information and communication, electronics, the use of new physical principles in development, including nanotechnology, environmental safety, waste disposal technology and much more. 

In total, there were 700 innovation projects by 400 participants from 34 countries presented. The Russian exposition included 57 promising high technology developments from 27 organizations of various forms of ownership from eight regions of the country: the Nizhny Novgorod region, Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Republic of Dagestan, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), as well as Irkutsk, Samara and Tver regions.

The Nizhny Novgorod region presented 21 projects from nine organizations. Enterprises and universities of the region were awarded with seven gold, five silver and five bronze medals.

In addition, the Federal State Unitary Enterprise VNIIEF was awarded the special prize of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Korea for developing the system for storage and supply of gaseous fuels. For "Spherasorbs for the treatment of liquid radioactive waste," the company received a special prize of the Polish delegation.

"The Nizhny Novgorod region generally stands out for a large number of high-tech industries and developments. There are a lot of people there, who can generate interesting ideas and technologies, and they are quite capable of conquering top places in such events as the International Invention Fair in Seoul," senior officer at the Center for Korean Research of the Institute for the Far East, Yevgeny Kim said in an interview with Pravda.ru. "It is a well-known fact that Russian people are very smart and inventions, and that Koreans borrowed some developments. At the same time, we must keep in mind the fact that Russia needs to work on the implementation phase - the pilot production stage. That is we invent a good technology, but we can not promote it to the stage of serial production - we lack experience and financial support. In this sense, working with Koreans is a very positive experience. They are quick to grasp it. Therefore, one needs to share experiences by showing them. Even so, one should not forget about copyright protection."

Noteworthy, under the rules of the fair, all inventions, technology and new equipment should be protected by national patents or pending priority.
