Nizhny Novgorod region expands cooperation with India

Nizhny Novgorod Governor Valery Shantsev had a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Russia, Pundi Srinivasan Raghavan. Entrepreneurs were also members of the delegation of the Embassy of India to Russia.

Representatives of India, the country, to which Governor Shantsev refers to as a strategic partner of the region, will get acquainted with the industrial, investment and tourist potential of the Nizhny Novgorod region. They will also discuss prospects for the development of trade-economic, scientific and cultural cooperation between Russia and India. Members of the delegation will visit higher education institutions and companies in the region.

"Our cooperation has been developing actively. Currently, India is ranked 12th in terms of foreign trade turnover among 146 countries, but we, with Mr. Ambassador,  are deeply convinced that the scope of activities between India and the Nizhny Novgorod region, primarily in the field of economy, can be more extensive. We certainly need to increase the existing volume of trade at least ten times, even though it is already quite high - about 196 million dollars last year. In general, we see an increase of 1.5 times compared to the previous year, but of course, one should maintain the pace of development between India and Russia now," said the head of the Nizhny Novgorod region Valery Shantsev.
