Dick Cheney knows what to do with Arafat

The top officials of the American administration are in an unpleasant situation due to the “efforts” of the Israeli Defense Minister Binyamin Ben Eliezer. In one of his interviews, he disclosed some of the details of the negotiations in Washington. As the Israeli minister said, he was very surprised with the tough position towards Yasser Arafat, the position of the American top officials. “Vice President Cheney is more determined than me,” - Eliezer said. Cheney allegedly said that the Israelis could even hang Arafat. Condoleezza Rice believes that dealing with Arafat is like “wasting time.”

Since the American officials stick to another position in public, the words from the Israeli minister have taken the form of the international scandal. A White House spokesman said those words were “fantastic.”

Binyamin Ben Eliezer had to go on with that. He claimed he had never said that the negotiations with Arafat were a waste of the time. Eliezer called Washington to apologize to Dick Cheney and Condoleezza Rice. However, it is not clear what Eliezer apologized for: to making up the extremist statements against Arafat or making the real negotiations in Washington public?
