Sergey Nikolayev: Ulyanovsk region clarified its senator

The four-month story with the elections of the Ulyanovsk region Legislative Assembly representative in the Federation Council is over. After Sergey Ryabukhin, the former chairman of the Legislative assembly became the auditor of the Clearing House, his post at the Federation Council became vacant. There were many candidacies nominated, but none was approved. Valery Sychev – the chief federal inspector of the Ulyanovsk region was also nominated for the position. In the beginning the deputies did not give him ok, but yesterday Sychev left three competitors behind him and became the representative of the Ulyanovsk region in the Federation Council.

Sychev stated yesterday at the press-conference that he would not forget what he was going to represent. He reminded, Sergey Ryabukhin voted for the new Land Code, although the majority of the Legislative Assembly of the Ulyanovsk region was against it. Sychev said, he would not allow that. He promised he would do his best to “undo the dead energetic noose,” in which the Ulyanovsk region is in now.

It is not known yet, who is going to take the post of the chief federal inspector of the Ulyanovsk region. Valery Sychev himself says, there are two candidacies: the former representative of the region at the government, Gennady Savinov and the incumbent federal inspector Alexander Ivanov. The final decision will be made by Sergey Kiriyenko – the presidential envoy in the region.
