The results of the elections in Montenegro have clearly demonstrated that the Republic’s independence is the least feasible solution and thus an initiative for negotiations on the future relations in the Yugoslav federation will be launched, Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica said following a meeting with the Swiss President, Moritz Leuenberger, in Belgrade. Kostunica said that the federal state of Serbia and Montenegro should be defined as a minimal, but at the same time efficient federation, with a wide scope for the statehood and autonomy of its federal units, Radio Jugoslavija reports. The President of FR Yugoslavia, Vojislav Kostunica, has stated that everything in the Yugoslav federation can be the subject discussion except for one thing - a joint state, with one seat in the United Nations. President Kostunica told Belgrade’s NIN weekly that persons from Serbia and Montenegro could rotate on federal positions according to an arranged mechanism. Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic accepted this idea. An idea of single-chamber parliament may be also considered during negotiations on the reorganisation of the federation. The republics could have 50% of the deputy places in the parliament.
