Russia is working on construction of the first unit of Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant
Russia has no reasons to give up the international cooperation with Iran in the sphere of nuclear power. A top representative of the Russian Ministry for Atomic Energy commented upon a statement of the US Administration insisting that Russia and other countries must stop any kind of nuclear cooperation with Iran. He said that "for the time being, Russia has no reasons to give up its international commitments in construction of the first unit of Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant." He added at that, forcible arguments are required to sever the international relations. But Russia hasn't yet got any convincing data proving that Iran is realizing nuclear programs or violating the non-proliferation treaty. The spokesperson of the Russian Ministry for Atomic Energy said: "As far as Russia knows, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) hasn't raised any claims to the nuclear program of Iran. It is the Agency that is to consider the problem first, and only after its recommendations Russia will be able to discuss the issue with the USA."
