American Officials Go in for the History of Soviet Union

Paul Carter, second secretary of the US Embassy in Moscow and embassy official for economic issues Jerry Mallory visited the Ulyanovsk region of Russia.

It was very interesting for American officials to visit Vladimir Lenin’s hometown. They asked to take them to Ulyanovsk themselves.

Embassy officials stated that they could see a lot of changes. One of the major things that they noticed was the fact that people were trying to change their life for the better.

Carter and Mallory visited the regional administration, where they were told about the social and economic position in the region. Americans wanted to go to a Catholic church, but they could not, because there was none in the city. Ulyanovsk officials fulfilled Mr.Carter’s request, who asked to take him to the village of Shakhovskoye. This is the place, where Mikhail Suslov came from - the ideologist of the standstill era in the history of the Soviet Union, one of the secretaries of the Central Committee of the Communist Party. Paul Carter has a degree in politics. He used to work on a research, the subjects of which included the Soviet ideology and comrade Suslov.
