Woman Throws Baby Out of Window, Says Does Not Know Why

The police of Russia’s Kamchatka region are investigating the murder of a newborn who was thrown out of the window. The crime was committed by a drinking pal of the baby’s parents.

The tragedy took place in the apartment on the second storey of the building in Oborona 1854 Street in the settlement of Zavoiko, on the outskirts of the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The suspected murder has been arrested; the woman pleaded guilty to the crime.

The suspect visited her friends – a couple who recently became parents to a baby boy – on February 27, 2010. When the party ended, the guest took the four-month-old baby in her arms, opened the window in the kitchen and threw the baby out. The baby fell down on the asphalt road and died instantly.

“The woman was drunk, the baby’s parents were asleep when it happened. When they woke up and realized what had happened, they both attempted to commit suicide. The man and the woman took all medicines that they could find in their apartment. Doctors managed to save both of them,” a police officer told Interfax news agency.

The suspect pleaded guilty to the crime, but the woman could not explain what made her throw her friends’ little baby out of the window.
