A 232.9 carat diamond was produced by the factory of an ore mining and processing enterprise located on the Polar Circle, Republic of Sakha /Yakutia/, Russian Far East.

According to Alexander Rubtsov, the enterprise's head dresser, the find is a rare one: the last similarly large diamond was produced in 1991. The jewel is tobacco-colored, has an irregular shape close to that of an octahedron /the classical diamond form/, and has no man-caused defects, only some natural chips - a fact that proves the high professionalism of the miners and dressers who handled it.

The giant gem so far goes unnamed.

All in all, Yakutia gave the world about a dozen giant diamonds, the largest of them being a 342.5 carat gem produced in 1980 and called The 26th Congress of the CPSU /Communist Party of the Soviet Union/.
