European Union's Commissioner Margot Wallstroem Arrives In Moscow For Negotiations On The Eve Of Russia-European Union Summit

European Union's Commissioner Margot Wallstroem, who is supervising in the European Union the environmental protection and nuclear security commissions, arrives in Moscow on Wednesday to conduct negotiations with regard to preparation of the Russia-European Union summit scheduled for May 17. The RIA Novosti correspondent was told about it in the office of the European Commission in the Russian Federation. As is expected, on Thursday the European Union's commissioner will meet with Russian Economic Development and Trade Minister Gherman Gref, Minister of Natural Resources Boris Yatskevich and acting Power Industry Minister Ivan Matlashov. At these meetings it is planned to discuss cooperation between Russia and the European Union in the spheres of ecology, nuclear security and the power industry. It is also planned to touch upon trade and economic issues and investment cooperation. One of the main issues to be discussed during this visit is connected with cooperation between Russia and the European Union in carrying out the Nordic Dimension programme. This programme, in the implementation of which Russia takes an active part, is aimed at cooperation with the Baltic and the Barents Sea countries which are not members of the European Union. Margot Wallstroem will also attend the seminar under the name of Aspects of the Environment in the Context of the Nordic Dimension which will open in Moscow on May 11.
