Commodity Turnover between Russia and Vietnam Increases by 40% in 2002

Over the first eight months of 2002 the commodity turnover between Russia and Vietnam increased by 40% compared to last year, President of Russia Vladimir Putin announced at a meeting with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nong Duc Manh.

After discussing the economic cooperation of the two countries, the Russian president invited Nong Duc Manh, as a graduate of the Saint Petersburg Technical Academy, to take part in a forum of graduates of Soviet and Russian universities. The event will take place in 2003. Nong Dick Man thanked the Russian leader for his visit to Russia saying that Russia 'is a country which helped Vietnam in its struggle for independence and unification.'
