Rosneft comments on oil sales markets

The most promising sales market for Russian oil region in the near future will be Asia-Pacific countries, Vice President of the Rosneft oil company Alexey Kuznetsov said at the round-table meeting "The Outlooks for the Development of Pipeline Transportation in Russia". He reported that the need of these countries for crude oil was estimated at 1.1 billion tons in 2010 and 1.23 billion tons in 2020. Own production and imports taken into account, the additional potential of the region reached 160 million tons in 2010 and 280 million tons in 2020.

According to Kuznetsov, the conducted analysis of markets of the Asia-pacific region and the USA led to the conclusion that the share of oil of Eastern Siberia and Far East in the unoccupied niche of these markets would be about 10 to 12 percent; at the same time, Russia would not compete with other oil suppliers. In connection with this, Rosneft Vice President pointed to the necessity to construct a main pipeline for supplying oil to these regions. He also noted that of the two existing projects for building pipelines, the Angarsk-Nakhodka and Angarsk-Dazin (China) routes, the Angarsk-Nakhodka route was the most promising for Russia.
