King Carl XIV Gustaf of Sweden arrives at Kola Peninsula on unofficial visit - 21 September, 2002

21.09.2002

King Carl XIV Gustaf of Sweden arrived at the Kola Peninsula on an unofficial visit on Friday, the press service of the Murmansk regional government said. Murmansk governor Yuri Yevdokimov greeted Carl XIV Gustaf at Murmashi airport. Without calling at Murmansk, the king and the governor went to by helicopter to the Tersky Shore, where the king intends to spend a salmon-fishing weekend.

During Carl XIV Gustaf's first official visit to the Kola Peninsula in October 2001 state affairs prevented him from salmon-fishing.

Carl XIV Gustaf and Yuri Yevdokimov will spend Saturday and Sunday on the salmon rivers. On Monday the King of Sweden will leave the region.
