Modern technology ignores all doomsdays imaginable

While the majority of humanity prepares for the end of the world, Google is planning to make a breakthrough in technology. Will the Internet disappear? How did Apple get into trouble? Which smartphone will be most powerful?

Enterprising business people offer many to buy special kits to be prepared for the end of the world. Google does not hurry to panic. Quite on the contrary, the company has recently hired a director for engineering: the position is now taken by famous futurist Ray Kurzweil. He will be in charge of new projects, including the development of speech processing systems. Apparently, Mr. Kurzweil does not believe that planet Earth will soon end its existence. Back in 1999, he said that mankind was only a decade away from creating a phone that would be answering people's questions.

However, those who do not believe in the prophecy of the Maya can be certain of another thing. The Internet that we know today may disappear. A number of interesting solutions were made in Dubai at the conference of the International Telecommunication Union WCIT-2012. Despite the fact that Russia and its allies in the BRICS bloc have not obtained any control over the World Wide Web from the UN, Internet providers were obliged to monitor all traffic users. For the first time in 14 years, changes have been made in the document that defined the principles of regulation of the Internet industry in the world. As a result, Internet service providers around the world will have to analyze the content of data packets, not just their titles. This will allow to detect and block viruses as well as websites that contain illegal content and hazardous information. The introduction of special DPI systems will cost providers a lot.

Therefore, in 2013, prices for online advertising will grow by 13-14 per cent.

In 2012, Russian advertisers spent on advertising on TV 143.5 billion rubles, on the Internet - 58.5 billion, in the press - 41.9 billion, on the radio - 13.9 billion, and on outdoor media - 37.4 billion rubles.

U.S. courts are most humane courts in the world for Korean company Samsung Electronics. A court of California dismissed the lawsuit from Apple that sought a ban on the sale of gadgets by the South Korean giant in the United States. Apple demanded to ban the sale of 26 models of smartphones and other devices in the United States in connection with the violation of patent rights of the American corporation by the South Korean giant. In its defense, Samsung Electronics gave arguments that 23 of the 26 models mentioned in the lawsuit were not available on the U.S. market. Others gadgets, which Samsung sells in the United States, have a modified design that excludes a ban on their sales, according to the company.

HTC has no problems with patents. It transpired that the enterprising Taiwanese will soon leave behind their competitors from Samsung and even Apple. HTC prepares to release a flagship smartphone, a successor to HTC One X. The new product from HTC is said to become the most powerful smartphone in the world.

Facebook is preparing to launch its own service similar to the popular Snapchat. The company is already in the process of testing a mobile application that will enable users to instantly take and send photos to friends. For the time being, in addition to the main Facebook application for smart phones, the company has a Facebook Chat for mobile gadgets, Pages Manager to view favorite pages, Facebook Camera photo service for iOS-devices and Instagram, the transaction on which was closed in early September.

The new application will become another step in Facebook's aggressive policy to expand its presence in the area of communications. Two weeks ago, the social network released a supplement to the messenger for Android-based devices. The technology allows those, who do not have a Facebook account, to communicate through messages - similar to the popular WhatsApp application for sending instant text, photos and videos. However, the popularity of Snapchat is ensured with its security and policy of confidentiality. Many experts are uncertain whether Facebook will be able to offer the same.
