Nizhny Novgorod hosts II International Business Summit

On September 10, 2013, Nizhny Novgorod region Governor Valery Shantsev took part in the opening ceremony of the II International Business Summit. The governor, opening the summit, said: "This year's topic for discussion is a very interesting one - investment in the future. During the summit, over 70 conventions will be held. Unlike last year, we decided to make a few communication platforms that implement specific investment projects, where investors could communicate with each other and practice their experience in addressing issues of investing in our region."

As the president of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Alexander Shokhin, said, it is the business summit that forms the communication platform, gives an opportunity to present investment and social projects, promote them through concerned structures and companies. The discussion platform of the Nizhny Novgorod region will continue to attract the attention of business and expert community, as well as federal and regional authorities."

The same day, as part of the International Business Summit, the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region signed agreements with companies RUSAVTO-NN, LLC Status-NN, LLC PermGrazhdanStroy, JSC Promsistema, FlowersDelivery.Ru and Pedro Sanz Clima. The Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Valery Shantsev signed the agreements on behalf of the region.

One should point out the largest and most important projects for the region.

"Investment in the project to build a hotel and wellness center in the region is worth 400 million rubles," said General Director of Status-NN, Olga Nikitina. "For a long time, the tourist potential of Nizhny Novgorod and the region has been constrained because of the shortage of hotel rooms. This project, among others, will radically change the situation, taking into consideration the fact that there will be a wellness center built in addition to the hotel," summed up Shantsev.

Under the agreement with PermGrazhdanStroy, it is planned to build a hotel complex in the region. "The volume of investment will make up 4.3 billion rubles. The project includes the construction of two hotels for 200-250 guests each, 4 and 5 stars. The construction will be complete for the FIFA World Cup in 2018.

The agreement with the company RUSAVTO-NN, provides for the implementation of an investment project in the region for the production of cars for Russian and foreign buyers. "Investment in this project makes up $850 million. These will be completely new domestic cars of small class terrain. Both four-wheel drive and front-wheel drive cars will be produced with the possibility of the use of motor fuel. New cars will be twice lighter than UAZ vehicles and 300 kg lighter than the Niva. Ground clearance will make up 300 mm. The cost of such cars will make 275-290 thousand rubles. The vehicles will be made at CLEVER business incubator," said General Director of RUSAVTO-NN, Arkady Apanasenko.

"Investments are the main regulator of the market economy. They create jobs, new capacities, the tax base, which will allow us to realize our social programs," Shantsev said in conclusion. "We are planning to sign 23 agreements during the summit, worth 74 billion rubles," he added.

In total, since 2006, the region has signed more than 10,000 agreements with investors totaling $1.8 trillion rubles; 208,000 jobs have been created. "The amount of capitalization of these projects will be 74 billion rubles - this is almost the annual budget of the region," the head of the region said. Most interesting investment agreements of the summit are the projects for the construction of a bio-energy system factory for 2000 jobs, the center of modern technologies for 800 jobs, as well as a factory for the production of small architectural forms. Investment projects include hotels, spas and shopping centers. All this suggests that there is recovery and development in different branches."

During the summit, a meeting was conducted between the Federal Council of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and the Ministry of Education of Russia. The meeting was devoted to the human resources development in the Russian Federation, including the impact of Russia's accession to the WTO on the labor market.

Since 2007, 14 innovative educational resource centers have been created in the region to train personnel of high-tech industries (in Nizhniy Novgorod, Pavlovo, Vyksa, Arzamas, etc.). A number of training labs of regional resource centers has no analogues in Russia (for example, "The Smart House" complex, systems of  satellite communications, etc.) In addition, in 2012, there were training courses opened for new professions: information systems, technical operation of electronic equipment, etc.

According to governor Shantsev, resource centers prepare 4,000 professionals a year. They enjoy high demand, employers literally line up for them, offer them decent wages. Nizhny Novgorod universities prepare 50,000 graduates annually, of whom more than a half are graduates in technical disciplines.

The work of the Press House of the Media Forum at the Second International Business Summit was organized in a different way. "I really like that modern information technologies are used here. In our region, there are a lot of different events happening in the economic, social and political life that can go unnoticed and unappreciated without mass media. It is important that the media should raise these layers of information and take them to the public, - Valery Shantsev said opening the media forum. - Readers should be able to compare the information obtained from various publications so that they have an alternative, a variety. The Nizhny Novgorod region is open to dialogue and discussion so that people could live to work and create in peace," Valery Shantsev said.
